Children's Cafe is at a perfect location if you are interested in visiting temples and shrines in Kamakura (Walking distance for Hokokuji, Sugimoto temple, Tsurugaoka Shrine, etc). From my room I appreciated a Nameri river, clean air, and nice view. During my stay, I saw how much efforts Kimie san has made to offer the guest house to customers in a eco-friendly way (such as using powder detergent for dishes and sheets). Her food (I tried dinner and breakfast at her cafeteria) was nutritious, healthy, and delicious. I already miss her food. As I had to leave early upon checkout, she offered me Onigiri, rice ball with sweets.
I respect her ethic of offering healthy and delicious food to children who might be from a low income family or whose parents are too busy to offer meals. The owner of Children's cafe, Kimie san is a passionate, communicative, and kind woman. Through this trip, I learned countless things from her (never stop learning such as studying English for a better communication with guests). I would strongly recommend this place to you if you are thinking of visiting Kamakura to understand Japanese culture so she can continue supporting a community and children especially. Thank you Kimie san and I hope to see you again.
